What is NEOLUKU
NEOLUKU is a tattoo style that emerged from the desire to create meaningful tattoos that show respect for tradition, without crossing cultural boundaries.
The style was founded on April 25, 2023 and is rooted in Moluccan roots, with influences from the wider Austronesian region: Polynesia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

The name NEOLUKU is a combination of:
- Neo (Greek for “new”)
- Luku (derived from “Maluku”, the home of the maker)
It is a modern approach to body art, with a deeper layer.

Philosophy: Four directions, one core
The NEOLUKU logo shows four frigate birds, each representing a wind direction. They symbolize freedom, travel and development — but they all return to the heart: the core.
Just like these birds, the NEOLUKU wearer moves through life, seeking growth, without losing the connection with themselves.
MATA gelap & MATA terang
This is a central concept within NEOLUKU.
- MATA gelap means ‘the dark eye’ — it represents periods of uncertainty, inner struggle or not seeing direction.
- MATA terang, ‘the clear eye’, refers to clarity, insight and awareness.

These two are not separate, but complement each other. Sometimes you have to dare to look through the darkness to really see. In the silence, in slowing down, the greatest clarity often emerges.
A NEOLUKU tattoo often marks such a point in someone's life. A transition. A choice. A memory.
It is not an escape to the outside, but a journey inward.
NEOLUKU stands for coming home to yourself.

The Process: Cara NEOLUKU
Every NEOLUKU tattoo is designed in collaboration with you. We start from your story:
- What is important to you?
- What do you want to show or incorporate?
Based on this, a unique design is created, with personal elements such as:
- Initials or letters
- Important numbers or birth dates
- Symbols based on your zodiac sign or origin
The process is intuitive, open and profound. You do not need any prior knowledge — just the willingness to have something real done.
